Postcards From the World: Cat’s Holiday

I’ve been receiving a lot of Postcrossing cards lately, from all over the world. I’ve mentioned Postcrossing here before. It’s an online site with 800,000+ participants; we all send postcards to addresses randomly chosen for us from all the Postcrossers on the site. I’ve been a member since 2009 and have received more than 5,000Continue reading “Postcards From the World: Cat’s Holiday”

Postcards From the World: Windows on Russia

I’ve received several interesting Postcrossing cards recently. This one is from Ludmila, a Postcrosser in Moscow who develops mobile apps and lives with her husband, two daughters, and two cats. She says she loves sending and receiving postcards because it is a chance to learn more about the different parts of the world, including thingsContinue reading “Postcards From the World: Windows on Russia”

Postcards from the World: Japan

I haven’t posted lately about the postcards I’ve received from Postcrossers all over the world. In fact, October 1 was World Postcard Day, so this is a good month to think about all the wonderful slices of life my fellow Postcrossers have shared with me. This one arrived a couple days ago from Japan. TheContinue reading “Postcards from the World: Japan”

Postcards From the World: A German Castle

I received this lovely postcard today from a German Postcrosser named Ulrike, who lives in Munich. It shows a striking image of Cadolzburg Castle, a medieval castle in the Bavarian district of F├╝rth. Documentation of the castle goes back as early as 1157; it was an important site for hundreds of years.

Postcards From the World: Bookish

I’m a sucker for a bookish postcard, so I had to share this Postcrossing card I received from a Postcrosser named Paula in Texas. Paula loves to read and to travel, as I do. Though she didn’t have room to say a lot in her card, I got the feeling we’d be friends, if weContinue reading “Postcards From the World: Bookish”

Postcards from the World: Draco

Here is another cool Postcrossing card! This atmospheric shot of Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince came recently from Corey, a U.S. Postcrosser in Denver, Colorado. Corey seems like as big a Harry Potter fan as I am; she put stickers of two of my favorite characters, Hermione Granger and Professor McGonagall.Continue reading “Postcards from the World: Draco”

Postcards from the World: Still Life with Books

I haven’t posted lately about any Postcrossing cards I’ve received, but this one deserves to be shared. This postcard arrived from Jana in Czechia. She chose it because I wrote in my profile about how much I love reading books. There is no indication of the artist’s name or the title of the work, butContinue reading “Postcards from the World: Still Life with Books”

Month of Letters, Day 28

Wow, the Month of Letters challenge is almost over for 2020! I meant to mail some actual penpal-type letters on Friday, February 28, but we had some drama at home concerning my son’s desperate rush to complete an English assignment that absolutely, positively had to get submitted online to the teacher — and that requiredContinue reading “Month of Letters, Day 28”
