For February 18, I sent just one letter in the Month of Letters challenge, but it had MailArt! I wrote a letter to a new LetterMo Friend, a correspondent in Colorado. She said she enjoys MailArt and does quite a bit of it herself — a whole lot more than I do. So I decidedContinue reading “Month of Letters, Day 18”
On Saturday, Feb. 15, I mailed a Postcrossing card to Steyer, Germany. Steyer is along the Rhine River, a little south of Mannheim. The card showed an illustration (below) of historic sites in the Charlottesville, Virginia, area. Days 16 and 17 were easy. Feb. 16 was Sunday, and the following day was the George WashingtonContinue reading “Month of Letters, Days 15, 16, and 17”
This morning I drove my son to school, which put me just a block from one of my favorite neighborhood cafes. Naturally, I stopped in for breakfast, bringing with me a blank card, a box of stationery (for subsequent pages), and the address of a pen pal in Massachusetts. It’s a good thing I hadContinue reading “Month of Letters, Day 14”
Today was a slow day for letter-writing, nearly halfway through the Month of Letters. I wrote and mailed just one Postcrossing postcard. The photo shows a “Virginia Is For Lovers” highway sign, and the card went to a Postcrosser in Kansas City, Kansas.
Just one piece of mail went out today in my Month of Letters (or “LetterMo”) challenge. It was a Valentine’s Day card and letter, sent to a LetterMo participant and occasional pen pal in Florida. I don’t have an image of this one. So a generic heart will have to do.
It is Tuesday, February 11, also known as the eleventh day of the Month of Letters challenge (fondly known as “LetterMo.” Today I sent three cards and letters: A Valentine’s Day card to my mother in Williamsburg, Virginia. A Get Well Soon card to my father in California. A birthday card and letter to myContinue reading “Month of Letters, Day 11”
On Monday, February 10, the tenth day of the Month of Letters challenge to send at least one piece of mail each day in February, I sent two Postcrossing cards: To China, a superhero robot card. To The Netherlands, a card with a reproduction of the cover of an old pulp fiction book called Musk,Continue reading “Month of Letters, Day 10”
On Saturday, February 8, I mailed just one letter for the LetterMo (Month of Letters) challenge. This one was a letter sent to another LetterMo participant, this one in Pennsylvania. I was traveling (on yet another college visit) and sent it from a hotel mailbox in Harrisonburg, Virginia. No breathtaking scenes, clever pictures, or quirkyContinue reading “Month of Letters, Day 8 (and Day 9)”
Here is my favorite of the recent postcards I’ve received from Postcrossers around the world. This one is from the Netherlands. For more information on Postcrossing, see my earlier posts on the subject: Postcards From the World, Part 3 Postcards From the World, Part 2 Postcards From the World The 5000 Club
On this seventh day of the Month of Letters (LetterMo) challenge, I sent four Postcrossing cards, all of them overseas. To a nature lover in Finland: a beautiful shot of the Blue Ridge Mountains in all their fall colors. To Brazil, a black and white photo of a sparkly chandelier at the historic Bolling-Wilson HotelContinue reading “Month of Letters, Day 7”
