I know I just posted about a recent Postcrossing card I received. But an envelope that just came in the mail was noteworthy enough to deserve another Postcards From the World mention. The envelope came from France and contained not one but two postcards. They are from Sandra and Olivier, who live together in Alsace.Continue reading “Postcards From the World: Deux de France”

Still Going Postal
A few days ago I posted about the Month of Letters, also known as LetterMo. This is a challenge I undertake every year; it encourages participants to write and mail at least one letter or postcard per day (every day that the mail runs) during the month of February. It’s time for an update. SinceContinue reading “Still Going Postal”
Month of Letters 2021
Every February for years, I’ve taken part in the Month of Letters challenge. During the month of February, I’m supposed write and mail one letter or postcard each day. And when I receive mail (not junk mail) I write back to the sender. Mail can go to old friends, family members, my regular pen pals,Continue reading “Month of Letters 2021”
Month of Letters, Day 29
Yesterday was the final day of LetterMo 2020 (also known as the Month of Letters). I had hoped to send a lot more for the grand finale, but life got in the way. I did manage to get out two pieces of mail: A letter in response to a card from a LetterMo participant (andContinue reading “Month of Letters, Day 29”
Month of Letters, Day 28
Wow, the Month of Letters challenge is almost over for 2020! I meant to mail some actual penpal-type letters on Friday, February 28, but we had some drama at home concerning my son’s desperate rush to complete an English assignment that absolutely, positively had to get submitted online to the teacher — and that requiredContinue reading “Month of Letters, Day 28”
Month of Letters, Day 27
Two outgoing letters today, the 27th day of February. So far I seem to have written to a lot more LetterMo participants than have written me back, so I’ll probably be inundated with replies these last few days of the month. To St. Petersburg, Russia, I sent a Postcrossing card that’s a reproduction of aContinue reading “Month of Letters, Day 27”
Month of Letters, Day 26
Yesterday was Wednesday, February 26. As the Month of Letters winds down, I am still doing my best to mail something every day. Or four somethings, three of which were Postcrossing cards : To Huntsville, Alabama, a letter to a LetterMo participant. This is my second letter to her this month, and is in responseContinue reading “Month of Letters, Day 26”
Month of Letters, Day 24
I sent one piece of mail today. This one was a chatty letter to a LetterMo writer in the Pacific Northwest. I wrote it in a restaurant between murals of Greek Isles, and longed for whitewashed houses, cobalt doors, and turquoise waters. Only a few more LetterMo days to go….
Month of Letters, Day 22 and Day 23
Just one letter mailed yesterday (Saturday, February 22) as part of the Month of Letters challenge. But I’m traveling, so at least I was able to send from a new spot, a box in a student dining hall at James Madison University, while waiting for my son’s turn to audition for All-State Orchestra. The letterContinue reading “Month of Letters, Day 22 and Day 23”
Month of Letters, Day 21
Two letters went out today for the Month of Letters challenge: A long letter to a LetterMo correspondent in Florida, USA. This was the inaugural letter for a new fountain pen, which I like very much, but I realize the pen requires a smoother paper than the textured stationery I used. I hope it’s notContinue reading “Month of Letters, Day 21”
