I’ve been doing Camp NaNoWriMo this month, working on a young-adult science-fiction novel. The goal is to write 50,000 words in a month.
At 2 a.m. today, I hit 50,000 words. And it’s only April 16. I was rather shocked when I added my latest word count to the website and the Winners’ screen flashed onto the screen, complete with falling confetti. I honestly had not realized I was so close. I’d been watching my daily word count, but not paying much attention to the total.
So nobody could be more surprised than I am. I have finished NaNo before, but never anywhere near this early in the month. My manuscript is by no means finished, so I’m still writing frantically away, trying to have a solid, completed draft by the end of April.
