Welcome to this week’s edition of Throwback Thursday! Today, I’m spotlighting a photo that turned up in my family tree research.
The photo is from the June 15, 1921, wedding of Angelo Sabatini (spelled Sabatino in some records) and Anna Donalovich in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Angelo was born in 1894, and Anna in 1906, both in Pennsylvania. Bride and groom were the children of immigrants, his parents from Italy and hers from Poland and Russia.
Angelo was a miner who worked for the Moffat Coal Company. Anna was a homemaker. The Sabatinis went on to have two daughters and two sons, the final boy born in 1935, seven months before Angelo’s untimely death in 1936 in a mining accident at the age of 42. Anna lived until 1963.
Angelo was on my mother’s side of the family, and would have been my first cousin, three times removed.
