Novel Update

It’s been such a long time since I gave an update on the state of my latest work-in-progress. This is the science-fiction novel for teens that I have mentioned on occasion, the one I started just before the start of the pandemic and then was having so much trouble moving ahead on.

I am still working on it, but after months of wheel-spinning, I am making progress. I sent the first few chapters to my coauthor for feedback, and am now finishing up an edit on the next batch of chapters to send him within the next few days. The first draft is basically finished, though I believe there are several places where I’m going to need to add a scene or two. I’m figuring that out as I move ahead with the editing.

Coauthor is kind of a loose term. In this case, we’ll be listed as coauthors on the book, but I’m doing the actual writing, and he created the world it’s set in and the basic setup and main characters, and is handling the business end.

I’m not going to provide details at this point on what the book is about. Some authors like to be open about their works in progress. I find I do better when I wait until I have a whole manuscript that feels complete, and I’m just not there yet. Stay tuned.
