Today is the birthday of Peter Roget, born Jan 18, 1779, in London. Roget was a physician, theologian, and lexicographer. He also invented the slide rule. But his lasting legacy was as the inventor of the thesaurus.
For his work we will be forever grateful, thankful, appreciative, obliged, gratified, beholden, and indebted.
