We traveled to Harrisonburg last weekend to attend a concert by the James Madison University Chamber Orchestra, with our son Jon Morgan playing second chair in the first violin section.
It was another terrific concert! The students performed Bologne’s Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Haydn’s Symphony No. 82 in C Major, and selections from Handel’s Water Music, where Jon Morgan was one of the soloists.
Recording was not allowed, but I’ll send a link when the university posts it online.
Bob and I drove down on Saturday and booked two nights at a historic inn, so we’d be able to spend a little time with Jon Morgan. Bob has a lot of use-or-lose vacation time to take before the end of the year, so he figured it was an excuse to take a day off work. We strolled around the arboretum, bought stocking stuffers at the university bookstore, and had some good meals. And one not so good meal, but that’s a story for another day.
We had seen him only the weekend before, when he was here for Thanksgiving. And less than two weeks from now, we’ll be driving down again to pick him up for winter break. Still, it was great seeing him.
The concert should be posted online soon; I’ll post a link when it’s available.
