This photo is one I took last weekend on a mountaintop in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. We were hiking on the Appalachian Trail, to reach the top of Spy Rock. We hadn’t done much hiking in some time, and were out of practice. But we made it to the top, which was at about 4,000 feet in elevation, and were all a bit giddy that we’d made it. Of course, I took a lot of photos of the spectacular views. But later I noticed that I had also snapped of my son, turning so that he appears to be gazing down at my husband, who looks like a tiny little person. It’s all a matter of perspective.
