A few days ago I posted that I was participating in Camp NaNoWriMo for the month of July, with the goal of adding 20,000 words to the science-fiction novel I’m working on. That comes out to about 645 words a day.
I’m going to be without internet access for a few days, and may not be able to keep up with my target word count each day. But at the moment, I am on track. So far I have written at least 700 words each day, with 1,415 words on Saturday, my most productive day so far. But there’s still a lot of July left. My daily word counts so far:
- July 1 – 771
- July 2 – 702
- July 3 – 1,415
- July 4 – 753
- July 5 – 809
I know it doesn’t seem impressive, but I’ve spent much of this time reworking what I’d already written to add a new plot element to the beginning of the manuscript and drop in passages referring back to it and integrating it into the rest of the plot. In any case, I’ve met my goals so far, so I can live with these numbers.
