We had a mostly mild winter, and were hit with only a few days of snow, sleet, and freezing rain. There wasn’t even a lot of it — this is Virginia, after all — but the roads were sloppy, briefly, and I didn’t really want to go out. So I mostly stayed in on those coldish February days, watching the outside world from inside — and trying to take photos through the windows. Now it really is spring, and the cold weather seems finished for the season. But the cardinals live in our yard all year around, and they did look so pretty in the snow! Here’s one in the tree outside the bay window in the family room, a month ago, during winter’s last hurrah.
