Yesterday I wrote about National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo, which challenges writers to author a book during the month of November. I am taking part in NaNoWriMo, as I have done for years. But that’s not the only writing challenge I’m taking on this month. I’m also taking part in #bloglikecrazy, which challenges participants to write a blog entry every day this month. The founder describes the program on her own blog here.
I usually post a Writer Birthday list on my blog every day, which sometimes requires quite a bit of research — some days helped by the fact that I started researching and compiling such a list a few years ago, to post on my old blog. I still haven’t managed to put together a list for every day of the year; I probably have them for about half the days, though some of the previously posted lists require further work.
Each day, I start by checking to see if I have already published a list for that date on my old blog in the past; if so, I add to it or edit as needed. When I don’t have one, I research and write one from scratch. I am not managing to post a birthday list every single day, but I’m gradually filling in all the dates. Some of my #bloglikecrazy posts will be Writer Birthday lists, but I won’t count toward the blog challenge any Birthday Lists written in the past and recycled, only new ones. Beyond that, I hope to write more personal or informative posts as well. Some days, like today, I’ll have more than one post.
As for how I’m going to manage to do both this and the book outline I’m working on for NaNoWriMo, well, I’m hoping the two challenges will cross-pollinate each other. Wish me luck.
