I just finished reading the novel My Name is Lucy Barton, by Elizabeth Strout. It is the 137th book I’ve read in 2019, and most likely will be the last. So this updates my recent post, 135 in 2019 (and Counting), which recognized my completion of the GoodReads 2019 Reading Challenge; my goal was 135 books this year.
I know that Americans read an average of only 12 books a year, but I have trouble imagining reading so little! Most of my friends on GoodReads set their goals this year at somewhere between 50 and 100 books, though one blew past her goal of 125 and managed to read 208! I am impressed and envious. But I am happy to have met my own goal, and now will choose my goal for 2020.
